About NHS Histopathology
Histopathology encompasses a study of disease, makes diagnosis, provides prognostic information and guides management of patients to ensure accurate and timely care of clinical problems encountered by patients in the NHS today.
The 11 Training Schools in England and training programmes in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, are dedicated to the training of Histopathologists and Forensic Pathologists in the United Kingdom.
New breakthroughs in pathology are rapidly emerging and in the future, the scope of practice will include diagnostic cancer genomics and virtual microscopy.
