Pattern recognition
We previously had a collaborative study between the Newcastle Histopathology Training School and the University of Coventry to try and understand whether the recognition of patterns in microscopy is innate or learnt.
One of the aims of the project was to see if this would be a viable test for inclusion in future recruitment selection centres, but mainly to test the two following situations:
- Low-level features such as boundaries, colour and texture
- High-level descriptive features such as nuclear crowding, branching of glands and dysplasia.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the results were not published. Have a look at the attached presentation to get an idea of what participants of the pilot study undertook
Pattern recognition
Pattern recognition tests two areas:
- Low-level features such as boundaries, colour and texture
- High-level descriptive features such as nuclear crowding, branching of glands and dysplasia .
