Views from a trainee perspective...

The day typically starts at about 8.30am with post-mortems in the Mortuary.  Otherwise, cut-up starts at 9am when you are on the rota for this aspect of the work.

During the day, your Consultant of the week will hand you some trays of slides to look at on the microscope, which we check together, usually before the end of the day.  MDT meetings usually take place at lunchtime, depending on the specialty.  Any quiet time is taken up by reading and studying the background material associated with any cases we are looking at.  We also attend small group teaching by one of the consultants every month.
