There is a specified neuropathology training post (currently occupied) within the Oxford scheme for trainees who wish to undertake formal subspecialty training in this area. The remaining subspecialties do not currently have specified subspecialty training posts. Subspecialty histopathology reporting is the norm within the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. Cardiac and Lung Resection pathology is not available within the regional training departments however short secondments for training in these areas have previously been organized outside the Deanery where necessary.
Paediatric Pathology
Specialist paediatric pathology services are available at the John Radcliffe hospitals in Oxford and all trainees will complete a rotation in this specialty.
Neuropathology
Each trainee
will rotate through a specialist attachment in the neuropathology
department at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
Bone & Soft Tissue Pathology
A specialist Consultant at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital in Oxford provides this service.
