Audit and Research

The University department based at the RLUH has a strong history of research in the field of pathology. Every trainee in their first year is required to complete a small audit project and contribute to the departmental research.as a  whole. Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence, in-situ hybridisation and molecular pathology techniques are available for use in research projects.

ST1 Trainees will be made course facilitators for PBL courses for Medical Students at the Liverpool University Medical School. There are ample opportunities to use pathology teaching material for teaching and personal study purposes within the unit.

Histopathology is offering 'run-through' clinical programmes for specialty training.  For further information on training for ST2 to 5 (subject to satisfactory progression) please refer to the relevant deanery website to inform your decision when stating preferences.

Clinical Meetings

Clinicopathological meetings are conducted at all three sites within the Liverpool training school. Trainees are expected to participate and contribute to these multi-disciplinary team meetings during the term of the rotation.
